It's funny your asking me this question. I could swing a '11 no problem, but I drive an '02...


At some point I'll trade up to a low miles '08 or '09.


But, yes -- you should go get one. The very fact your asking means you won't be happy if you don't!

lol I didn't think it was much worse than my box. Ive never gotten in one with the top on, but I wouldn't ever b driving it with it on anyway.

I'm 5' 8" and I didn't have a problem with ingress/egress with top on. If you're 6'+ then it might be a challenge.

I have autocrossed an exige and I think that it is a great track car but I don't think that it can even begin to compare to the boxster as a daily driver. I love the spartan look and feel of the exige, but between the two I would pick the 986s. The exige is underpowered. It needs about another 20 hp.

You should sell your current Boxster, take your $40k and get the Cayman R. Looks like Porsche is giving the 987 line a big send off with the Spyder and now with this:

Those end of model run kickers always seemed like bad buys to me. Great marketing and a good financial way to get rid of old parts.

Buy in at the third or forth year of the model run when some of the initial bugs get ironed out and they put in the improved engines. Look at the '00 986 and the '09 987 as examples of improvements and a decent run with the then current body style. (Yes the '03 is even better but then you only have 2 years till the next model.)

Though with the electric/hybrid changes that may no longer make sense as model runs may not be as long at the 9 year 986 and 7 year 987.
