Doing this to a boxster is like taking a beautiful woman and gobbing so much make-up on her...well it just takes away from the beauty.

wide body kit
when i was first shopping for a Boxster, the dealer in edmonton had a new boxster on the floor with a wide body kit on it. it looked a lot like the carrera GT.
i would not want it as my only car...

I too prefer the stock look of the boxies...Mods have a way of detracting from all of the r&d that went into making these cars look as fun as they drive.

I love it, couldn't justify spending over $12kUS on a kit and then fitting/painting it though....

what is the point of a license plate that has no plate numbers on it?
Is that like being forced to wear braces on your teeth that don't work?

I assume people who would go that far would have at least a 3.6L or turbo in there.
I also assume it was a salvaged title and/or it has really bad bodywork and he got it for dirt cheap and decided to "do it up".
Honestly, with that kind of money invested he can actually get a 996 GT3.

I really like the yellow boxster in that link. That's the first tasteful widebody kit for our cars that doesn't look ricey (to me, anyway).

It would be interesting to see how much attention to detail went into this project, along with the overall quality of the paint work. Depending upon a person's level of perfectionism, the cost of meticulously "fitting" and painting a body kit can easily surpass the price of the kit itself. In fact, most of the projects that I have been involved in, especially my own, resulted in labor costs that far, far exceeded the cost of the kits themselves.

I guess it doesn't look terrible, and would look right at home on a track, but the white one I saw in the link reminded me too much of a Toyota MR-S the way it was mocked up...and while I like those, too, a Boxster it is not, and the Boxster's definitely no liltte Toyota. To each his own, though...someone out there will fall in love with it.
