Find out when, why and, where it was totaled. The older total the better..., its been shaken down. New England has alot of totaled cars. Much of the time it's minor, stolen or vandalized.

"Accident" (doesn't specify what kind) was in 2003, 80k miles driven since.

Well, went for $8,300. Much more than I would have paid for a salvage titled car. Still think it was a good deal at $6,000 though.

I bought a 2000 with 78k miles for $12,500 3 weeks ago. Ya, I know I took a gamble but so far so good. I don't mind putting repair money into it because I have no car payment. I looked closely at some newer Boxsters but I would have had to get a loan. As long as it doesn't die in one big puff of smoke I think I won the gamble.
