Maximum Depth for Dash Speakers?

does anyone know what the maximum mounting depth is for the dash speakers?

I am planning an upgrade on the dash speakers and will be using the factory speaker basket.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on which speakers to use?

What about components? Is it possible to mount the tweeters? If so, what size?

pick your poison - I used Infinity Kappas and was very pleased

Yes, very possible as there are (using the term VERY loosely) things that I guess are supposed to resemble components in there. Do you have door speakers?

All in all, upgrading the speakers is very worthwhile but do remember it's a cab and not the best shell for a premium sound stage. Besides, the best speakers in the Boxster's sound system are at the bottom middle of the rear bumper

Good luck

I'm partial to the one just to the rear of the drivers side door.

5.25" Polk Co Ax

New to this forum and very pleased with my first Boxster - 2000 2.5

I have some polks which I would REALLY like to try and fit to the dash (maybe I should find second hand dash grills....)

Unfortunately my car is the basic model with only dash speakers and CD changer under the bonnet. I have been in touch with 9xx who will do the dash upgrade, but thought my brand new polks (top spec but forget the model) would be a better bet if I can modify them to fit under the factory grills...

Has anyone tried this upgrade to 5.25" in the dash?

Also on another note, does anyone happen to know the exact spec of Harvey Peck PNP 3.5" speakers in his rear speaker kit - if I opt for these as well, then I would like to try and match his speakers with the same 4" in the dash if my polk route is unsuccessful!

Failing that, I would go for Infnity ref 4" in the dash and 3.5" x 2 infinity refs in the PNP kit.

Many thanks, hope for some advice in this case!
