Drooping Sun Visor

Hey, All!

I haven't posted in several years, but have been following the forum. Great to see new voices, but sorry that some veterans have retired.

Last year when I revived by 2001 Boxster from winter hibernation, the passenger side sun visor drooped down and won't hold in the proper position, Also, the mirror cover broke off. I've done research to know that I can get a replacement mirror cover, but I am not sure about the drooping visor itself.

I searched the forum, but didn't find any thread specifically speaking to replacing the visor itself for this problem. The few I found just removed it..

Would a new visor solve the problem, or is this an issue with the visor mounting (which I don't think would be worth the price to replace on a 21-year-old Boxster with 153,000 miles)?

options:
Replace with a used one
Replace with a new one
Remove and not put in a new one.

Known to drop down and the covers all break, not something sold as an individual part. It's either the cover that breaks or the housing gets a crack in the visor.

I haven't seen the entire sun visor droop before, but it's one big piece. If you don't want to replace the entire thing, you might try putting a little tape where the visor clips when locked facing forward and see if that adds enough friction for it stay in place.

The mirror is an easier fix, you can buy that piece separately.

Huh? None of mine clip. They pivot on each end and are screwed unto the body. Maybe lighted visors are different but the side in the middle by the mirror is where the electrical connection is for the lights.

The visors in these cars really aren't the best even when they dont drop down. I just remove them when they start to droop, never really helped keep the sun out of my eyes anyway.

Stl-986, you are right, I though they swung out to the side, but they do not do that. I need to drive my car more, I'm confusing it with other cars.
