Will this bumper lip fit 2000 Boxster?

Hi,

I saw this front bumper lip on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370393722361&viewitem=&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2&category=36475

It's advertised for 2001-2004 996.. and I was wondering if it will fit my 2k Boxster?

I don't have money for a GT3 cool looking bumper.. but this might give it a bit different look.

What do you guys think.. will it fit?

Thanks
Sasha

it will but only w/ new lights, new fenders and a bunch of other new things. Do a search here for Jeph's 996 bumper conversion for an estimate and parts listing...

Know the estimate is a couple of years old but IIRC came in somewhere close to ten big ones...

you need the 1999-2001 GT3 bumper (MK1). I think they go for about a grand unpainted. You'll need 18" wheels at least. The GT3 bumper is longer and wider and will make 17" wheels tiny. I'd avoid the aftermarket fiberglass units. Too much vibration from rough roads can cause the paint to crack, the polyurethane of the factory GT3 bumper is better at soaking up the bumps.

Thanks for replies.

I do have 18" wheels, also why would I need new lights/fenders...
This is the LIP only.. it goes under the existing bumper.. Is there something else that I'm missing?

Thanks
Sasha

I highly doubt it would fit the standard Box front bumper...I think the others thought you were interested in the turbo bumper cover, which necessitates all the other parts.

you will need the bumper pictured which is made to fit 986 boxster lights (as the original bumper follows the 996 late model lights) but if you are asking if that lip will fit on your exsisting bumper you have now. if it is stock then the answer is no.

I think what you are looking for is something like these splitters that can be painted and then tacked on to the bottom of your existing bumper:

It's too bad some American shops don't offer such things, as I'd consider adding one depending on how nicely it's done.

I have been looking at those as well, all I want is a little lip at the bottom not 1500 for a new bumper.

As often as I drag my front under-lip (is there such a designation???) while traveling around the country, the last thing I want is a fiberglass lip extending down further.
It would be cheaper to dip $20 bills in resin and stick them on!!
