I fitted the Flat6 pulley about 3 months ago (very impressed with the results) and replaced the bolt with a new one from my OPC - it was only a few $$. The bolt did not seem to have any locking paste on the threads so I gave it a good coating of Loctite 243.
As for using the old stretchable bolt - why would you? Have you thought of the consequences of the bolt coming loose and maybe damaging the threads on the end of the crank?

IMO, that "stretchable bolt" was rugged, undamaged and unlikely to twist out just my own thoughts. Like you, I'm very happy with the upgrade well worth the cash and effort.
