ahhhh you are just removing the engine cover as a whole
......carpet off of cover would be a different story

Nope. Under the carpet/insulator is the engine access cover/firewall. 4 more twist locks. That always stays intact.

I'll sell you mine...

I removed the rear storage box and the 2 carpet / insulation pieces (one on top and one in front of the engine). that was like 40 lbs of stuff! I'm doing it to lighten the car (along with lighter wheels, battery, seats, and more)...for better overall performance, especially at the track.

I'm considering removing all the interior carpet now...and maybe even the A/C and stereo.

who knows, maybe by next year I'll have a true 'spyder' with no windows or top either.

oh, mine's black.
