Radiator Coolant Leak Saga

2003 Porsche Boxster S, Red, developed a leak, got it home today, jacked it up with the hockey puck and placed on stand. For no good reason tried to access the engine compartment, slight issues.

1) There is a strap that the book states to hook onto the center front pin, no clue on that!

2) Convertible top linkage spring clips, how he heck do you take those off without breaking them?, I just decided to fore go that one!

Went under the car with a strong light and magnifying glass, at 48 years old I thing my close vision is going. Determined the leak must be from the water pump.

I am going to start the process to change the water pump, first thing is to take the right seat out, but what's up with the torx head, I will need to purchase a socket for that.

I know I am babbling, but this forum is great!, a lot better than rennteck!

Thanks Pedro

It's much easier to...

... change the water pump it from underneath.
You do not have to remove the seats or even open the firewall.
Everything can be done from underneath.

Here are the instructions: http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_3/Replace_Water_Pump.html

Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Water Pump

Thank you for the advise, I will still go through the passenger compartment to replace the serpentine belt.
