2003 Boxster S : Can I adjust (increase) the interior sensor for the stock car alarm?

Hi,

I have a 2003 Boxster S.

I would like to know if I can adjust the interior sensors for the stock alarm (by ther review mirror) so that it is more sensitive?

Thanks!

No you cannot, it's an IR sensor, not a motion detector.

Not sure why you'd need it more sensitive.

Cheers!

tks for the reply.

i'm using the "red clip".

it works, but the range of the ir detector is not that "wide".

any suggestions on aftermarket car alarms?

right now, the ir can only sense about 8 inches away. if i could just add a bit of range to it, it would be even better!

I bought the clip for mine, but it doesn't seem to work at all. So maybe 8" isn't so bad.

maybe you have the sensor turned off?

if so, to turn it on, you can go to the main set-up on the computer. you can find the details in the owner's manual....

Like yimmy149, I also own the red clip and I do not believe my IR sensor is working properly? I did not remember seeing anything in the Owners Manual on how to turn it on, outside of just alarming the car....Can you please be more specific on where we could find that info? Thanks

What kind of test did you did to calculate that 8inch away?
what kind of light? I guess there will be a difference in sensitivity if you'r in the dark (top up) or under the sun (top down on a sunny day)..

It should have a range of more than 8 inches. Have you tried getting into the eyes and cleaning them off? I know my dachshund set off the alarm and he was sleeping in the passenger seat at the time.
