There seem to be a growing number of threads in the various Porsche forums of owners doing the IMS upgrade and RMS fix as a DIY!! one 996 guy did it without any Porsche specific tools or a lift! He even fab'd up his own RMS tool with some PVC piping. This was not a professional mechanic, just and enthusiast who simply took his time over the course of a week or so. He put some of the clips on YouTube

i was going to have my 2 rear rims refinished, but, they called and said it would be about $300 per wheel to refinish. meh, i'll make sure the next car has nicer wheels.
