Cupholder

I have a 2003 Boxster S and the cupholder is stuck. Any ideas on how to open?

1st- Welcome!

2d - Not really. Push - release over and over. Maybe gently wedge a plastic knife into the edge and pry.

good luck.

If it really is jammed closed and you can't get it with a butter knife or something, you could always pop the entire cup holder assembly out of the dash.

And put it in the trash where it belongs! I do agree to remove the unit, which is very simple once you remove the "horseshoe".

I meant remove it to try and fix it, but it really does belong in the trash. The ultimate cup holder is thousand times better.

On my car to remove it you just pop the trim piece off, literally just snaps on. Then it's four phillips screws and it's out.

The cup holders on my 03 also get stuck sometimes. I've always been able to get them open by pushing on it at different spots several times. Then it works again without issue several times before it doesn't want to readily open again.

You can find them here, and they occasionally show up used on eBay.

2nd from top:

Easy in, easy out.

I keep mine on the passenger side

I got rid of my useless original cupholders ages ago, and moved the A/C controls up to where they belonged ("cupholderectomy"). Then I got rid of the equally useless CD holder, and now I have two useful oddments trays at the bottom, as well as a good place to mount my iPod.

How difficult was it to move your AC controls to the top?
