Seat wiring? What are these?
I took out my passenger seat today. I don't know why I did. I just took it out because I never took that part of my car apart Whatever..... BUT I found this one set of wires on a clip that was not connected to anything and there was no spot for them to be connected. I am thinking that they might have something to do with if it were a power seat or a heated seat. I only have a power drivers seat and there both not heated. Any clue what this set of two brown wires are?
I know I need a vacuum.

Hi,
I hope that you disconnected the battery before you took the seat out, otherwise you can say hello to a nasty airbag warning light
I am 90% sure that the brown wires are for the child seat / air bag deactivation bar.
The wires for the seat heating are in the big black connector
Otherwise they might be for option code 986.007.007.007: ejector seat (was only available in England)

Jay, that's used to attach an airbag deactivation bar to for when you want to give your baby a ride in the Boxster. I installed one in my boxster so that my little boy can ride with me, and it's great.

AHHH... thanks all. Nope did not disconnect the battery. Don't matter. I have to replace the seat belt recepticles any way. BUT when I did my dash swap and had to disconnect the airbags the light went out on its own. Maybe it just got sick of being on and burnt out. LOL Thanks again.

i was told that when these were instaled the airgab module had to be recoded. you didn't have your's recoded? just hooked up the extra connector?

It's a two-step process. You need to buy the airbag deactivation bar/baby seat and install it, and then you also need the dealer to activate the deactivation bar with their PST2 computer so that the car recognizes that the bar is installed, and will turn off the pass. side airbag and door airbag when you use the baby seat. I had a pal here who actually had one of these devices, and he helped turn on the deactivation bar for me so that I did not have to go to the dealer.

my problem is that i have the bar and want to remove it, but none of the local dealers will recode the airbag ecu back to normal. "that's messing with a safety system, we don't do that".
are they that stupid? it was a dealer that recoded it to begin with!
