Unhappy replace 2.7 with 3.2L .... how easy ??

Hi forum,
I have just had the unfortunate experience of the dreaded IMS on my 2001 boxster 2.7. I am understandably annoyed and thought about replacing the 2.7 with a 3.2.
How easy can this be and would the gearbox have to be replaced too ?

Many thanks for your help

scott

hmmmm...perhaps it is time to add an engine swap category so it is easier for new members to find all our threads about engine swaps/rebuilts.

Sorry to hear. I have an 01 too, and I would be pissed as well. I know of one guy who installed a 3.2 to replace his 2.7 after it's IMS failed too, and he didn't have to change his tranny. I also know another guy who upgraded to a 3.4 on his early 986, and it too, was using the 5-speed tranny, so I think you'll be fine.

you could always throw in a new 3.8...

Someone on here upgraded to i believe a 3.2 and he has a 5speed but of course if you wanted to eventually get a 6speed it could be a later project.

What's you budget like for replacement? If you have the funds go get a Raby built engine.
