996 Carrera Lights for 986?

Someone at my local Porsche club is getting rid of a set of 18" Carrera light weights from his 996. He's not sure of the offset. Anyone know if they will work with my 2000 S?

The rears will be 10" rather than the 9" boxster ones, and you'll need spacers for them. Front are straight fit. Depends on what tyres yu run at the rear as to which spacers you'll need. You might also need to tie the rear brake line out of the way to prevent the inside edge of the tyre rubbing against it, especially if you opt for 285 rears.

thanks
I'll have to pass then. I don't think Porsche approve of the use of Spacers and I have an extended warranty that will take issue with such things if something were to go wrong back there.
trying to avoid spending $2000 on these wheels.
I need new tires now that driving instruction season ahem...is under way, I think I'm going to go with the Toyo Proxes RA-1. The most streetable race tire with decent rain manners.

996 18inch Carrera 5-spokes-Fit 986?

I, too, am looking at the deal of the century on a set of 18 inch Carrera 5-spokes off of a 2002 996. 18x8 fronts and 18x10 rears. I REALLY need to know if someone has fit these on a 2003 Boxster S or equivalent with success before I bite off the dollars. The part number for the set of 4 appears to be 000 044 600 34.

I appreciate any responses but actual experience would make me more confident.

Thanks, Y'all!

I passed on the 996 Carrear 5 spokes. The 10" rears require the spacers to clear the brake Calipers and Porsche does not recommend the use of spacers. Certainly not if you Boxster is still under warranty.
My local Porsche Club guy said Boxsters with spacers are only for street use and should not be taken on the track.
Stick with the 9" rears.

Great info! Thanks!

In this case it looks like I need to keep my eye peeled for the correct Boxster Carrera wheel. Thanks a million!

wheelenhancement.com offered me $350 trade in for my 2000 boxster S wheels.
They were offering a new set for $2300.
Seems like the going rate for 2nd hand Carrera 5 spokes is around $1500-$1800
$400 per wheel is not cheap for used equipment.
