power seat doesn't work.

So on my way home today i wanted to recline a bit so i did, but I took a detour to my friends. when I went back to my car I wanted to move my seat back up. It moved forward a bit and then stopped working. I hear the motor but nothing is moving. Now my seat is relined way too far back and its not very comfy.

Did my seat lock itself or something or am i going to have to remove it and find out whats up.

Any one else with this problem?

Sounds like the worm gear in the motor may have come disengaged. You can pull the seat and check it out if you like. Just be sure to disconnect the negative terminal on your battery first, wait a bit, then dig into the removal.

Four bolts and an interesting plug to learn how to disengage. It has a flip lock thingy. You'll see.

If the motor needs replacing, I have a few spares lying around from a seat I tore down.

Well, the search feature saved me again!

I removed my drive's seat to clean under it (I know... too anal). When I reinstalled the seat it won't move. I got a motor sound but no movement in any direction. I came to search the net and this is the third thread I read. I went back out and tapped the motor and gears lightly with a rubber mallet, reinstalled the seat and what-do-ya know.... it worked.

Thanks you RandallNeighbour!
