Changing exhaust tips on an 2000 Boxster S - need ideas...

I'm thinking about doing the pedro mod on my stock muffler and would like to change the tips at the same time. After something a little bigger for a tougher look and maybe have them painted in black.

The stock tips are welded on. But they seemed to be just a "cover" and there are smaller tips inside the "cover". Is that the way they are designed? Or it is just one piece, in which case I should just cut them off completely and weld on new ones?

Also what size tips would fit? I'm not after the expensive fabspeed stuff, just some cheap ebay tips would do.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers.

The tips are welded on to the muffler on your 2000 S and they do cover the smaller exhaust outlets on the muffler. You'll have to cut them off and then attempt to weld on different tips. Personally I would just paint the current tips on there black or buy a used 03 or 04 muffler that has bolt on tips and try an aftermarket bolt on tip.

I saw Jaay's (member on this forum) 2000-2002 S muffler in person, that he painted in flat black, and it looked nice. I think he painted the entire muffler, not just the tips. Maybe since your tips are welded on, just paint the muffler.

My exhaust shop can weld the new tips when they do the pedro mod. Used mufflers are hard to find over here.
