I'd like the PASM and full leather pkg., but I couldn't pull the trigger at their prices. :(

I could be wrong, but I believe someone on here has posted that the Preferred Package on the S includes power seats, so that would explain the price difference. Of course, it doesn't say that on the Porsche web site, but we know how wrong that can be.

I registered this morning and stumbled on this thread.

I'm 3 weeks away from delivery on a new 05 Boxster S at Hoehn (Carlsbad, CA). They are offering me $2500 off 59k msrp as the first offer. I want to get around 3500-4000 off. I have emailed one other dealer in LA who has not yet replied.

Just wanted some input on if this is a fair offer in CA and any tips on getting a good deal in the Orange County/LA area.

FYI, I did not order this boxster. It is one that was scheduled to arrive.

Thanks!

It is always hard to know these things in advance and market dynamics move form week to week. Hey, if you are ready to sign on the line and have your dough in hand, make them the offer you want to make them.

If they let you walk, you know the number was too low FOR THEM!

Another way to do this is to send emails to dealers all around SOCAL with a firm offer to buy at your price. You might be surprised how many respond!

mrsparkle 05-22-2005 10:46 PM

I will try that. I'll make them a firm offer and see if anyone bites.

Thanks for the advice.

Brucelee 05-23-2005 06:30 AM

You bet. Keep us posted!

Good luck.

mrsparkle 05-23-2005 09:39 PM

I emailed an offer this morning. MSRP was $57,745... I asked for $58,300 OTD.

Their response was $58,800.

I'm trying for $58,500.

Also going to talk to Hoehn and see if they can beat that.

Brucelee 05-24-2005 05:36 AM

You are pretty close.

Good luck!

Discount on made-to-order?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to this site. Lots of great info and insight. I'd like to know whether anyone has been able to negotiate a substantial discount (3500-4K) on a 05' boxster that was ordered, not one on the lot. My local dealer (salesman) said that they do not discount their cars. If that's true, then see ya! I'm in Virginia Beach. Thanks

eslai 05-24-2005 03:24 PM

Well I'd say Mr. Sparkle did a good job out in Carlsbad. I should've ordered through them rather than Pioneer but I was lazy. I only got $1500 off.

I believe if you read back further in this thread you'll see talk of 6% off.

Brucelee 05-24-2005 05:33 PM

I am a big Hoen fan,

Good folks all around!

mrsparkle 05-24-2005 09:29 PM

I'll have to agree with brucelee on hoehn.

The staff is friendly, courteous and willing to make you a good deal. I went as far as telling them about their service. The only problem I have is that they close too early. What kind of dealership closes at 7pm m-f?

eslai 05-24-2005 09:50 PM

I believe they close later than Pioneer, even. :o

discount on made to order

I had 3300 off on made to order last December (before any 987's were on the lot). Maybe you can do better? My MSRP was 49500. Good luck.

I ended up purchasing a 987S at another dealer.

I compromised the color for the options (black instead of seal grey). My options include bi-xenon headlights, bose w/windstop, heated seats, pasm, sport chrono, 19" carrera s wheels, leather sport seats and sport shifter.

I wasn't looking for the sports shifter or 19" wheels. It was either getting this one or ordering an '06 and waiting 3 1/2 months. I'm very happy though.

FYI, the sports shifter is a lot stiffer than standard. 4th gear is still tricky but vertical throws are much better.

Also, not sure if this is normal but I noticed that sometimes first gear makes a rattling noise. Sounds like it's coming from the exhaust. It only happens in first gear at 3000rpm the first time I take off. Wonder what it could be.

eslai 05-29-2005 02:36 AM

I haven't heard that rattling that you're talking about. Glad to hear you got the car you wanted, even if it had a few extra options. I didn't know they're already talking about an '06 model!

We should get together sometime and compare notes. San Clemente isn't all that far away.

mrsparkle 05-29-2005 08:49 AM

All new orders are going to be '06's. June starts the new '06 production...that's what I was told by the dealer.

We should definately meet up. I just hope I don't look at your seal grey and have regrets.

eslai 05-29-2005 10:15 AM

Oh, I doubt anyone could have any regrets based on color alone! I saw the basalt black metallic or whatever they call it and I really liked it. I just didn't want something that would show dirt as much, which is also why I stayed away from the Midnight Blue that I really really wanted... :o

I am new here and thinking of ordering a 987 S. I see lots of pricing input from the left coast. I am here in good old (really old) Pittsburgh, PA. Does anyone have experience with negotiating with dealers in Western PA or North East Ohio?
What is current average wait time for an order?

kskimtahoe 05-30-2005 03:29 PM

order from west & ship

The dealer I bought mine from (Niello Porsche in Sacramento) will accept on-line order & will ship the car to your closest dealer (included in the destination charge I think).

KSK,
Thanks for the info, but it is hard to see where this is going to make economic sense. Given that we are closer to the port of entry it would seem that I should be able to work a better deal here. But, since I have not started the negotiation process here, I could be totally wrong. I will keep this in mind if I don't see good numbers here.
