I'm currently living in Basel Switzerland on a temporary assignment with work. I'm going to this car show in Frankfurt next weekend--2hr train ride I think. I can't wait! I went to the Geneva auto show earlier this year but made the mistake of going at 1pm on a Sun. so many people I couldn't see a single car. This time I'm getting there before the doors open. Am hoping for a great P-car section---will post pics.

To put the torque production into perspective, the Buggati Veyron produces 922 lbs-feet of torque at its peak. This concept R8 can produce more than 3 times that amount. How the tires will cope with that....I have no idea.

Look again... those aren't wire wheels. They just have lots of very small "spokes", making them almost look like wire wheels. I'd sure hate to clean them!

Funny thing is, my Grandfather was an auto engineer. He used to doodle these designs out on paper when we sat at the table. One was a four engine electric car, one engine at each wheel.

He never could figure out how to do the batteries as this was 1963.

He did tell me that from an efficiency perspective, the electric car was the way to go.
