Wouldn't call it a waste if money or an unnecssary repair. That's something I wouldve thought too. I had a puff of blue smoke come up maybe 1-2x every 30 days and knew that it was probably the aos but also thought it was due to the design of our engines so I never thought of fixing it so I can save money and just wait till it got more frequent like every start up but I never got to that point it just failed one day while at a stop light. Smoke everywhere. Funny the toe truck driver kept saying how I f*cked up my car and that a head gasket or new engine was called for. I knew it was the aos so I was whatever... Next day picked up a new aos at the dealer and dropped it in... Let all the oil residue burn up and now the car is back to normal. I would recommend the replacement to someone who gets the puff of smoke before it failed... Best $120 repair I ever did...
