Depth.

There is a bolt on the passenger side that limits the speaker depth. This is (one reason) why I used the OEM basket. Maybe someone who has torn apart the dash can tell you what it does - but it looks like it was designed by the same engineer who does the last spark plug on a V8. The one that takes longer than the other 7 combined.

I saw Crutchfield and others sell rubber baffles to fit around the speaker - looks like they would be helpful and work.

btw - it wasn't clear to me. Are you replacing the OEM speakers in the rear speaker kit - or did you have the storage box w/out the oem speaker kit?
