Just built a $121k Boxster S. WOW!

Just for s__s and giggles I built a new S on Porsche's website trying to see how high it could go.

Yes, you CAN have an options list that costs more than the car itself!

I know this is rediculous, nobody would really do this (for one, it would probably look tacky with some of the interior ones).

Point is--Porsche needs a reality check! A $57k base MSRP for an S that does NOT include Xenon headlights or auto climate control or heated seats as standard?

It's no wonder they are the most profitable car company in the world.

I guess as long as folks are still willing to pay for it, they will keep building it and pricing it as such.

I can understand some options not being standards. ie traction control, heated seats, stereos, depending on where you live. But I do agree that they are frickin rediculous on options. its like everything is ala carte. I guess I will just keep hoping some rich/foolish person is willing to take the hit on depreciation for the first 2 or 3 years so I can come in and buy it on the cheap.

These days, being the most profitable car company isn't saying much!

For a lot less than 121k, a guy could buy a totally loaded Boxster S, maybe a 2008 model, and shoehorn a GT2 motor in it and gut the suspension.

A while back someone asked me if I came into a pile of cash if I'd buy a TT or not... and I said I'd ship my car off to Jake and tell him to find a GT2 motor, make it bullet proof, and turn my 1997 into the fastest mid-engine Porsche on the planet. Then it would go to a paint shop the interior would be ripped out and redone while it was having a proper paint job.

That's my dream car. The one I have now, only totally different

Is there anything needed to make the gt1/2/3 engine bulletproof? I've never read of problems, except for an rms leak that actually isn't a sign of a problem.
