I saw a place on tv in Oklahoma, that supposedly had the best beef brisket in the world and found out it was only a stones throw away from were I had been. I didn't want to plan my trip down to the tee, but I should have had more options.

Have fun on your trip!! and remeber a family "red" cooler from Wallyworld fits perfectly in the frunk!! That was probably the best advice I could give!! As it saved me a small fortune from those gouging interstate gas stations.
We are definitely looking into the cooler! I noticed things in the frunk and trunk normally gets so hot. I'm worried if the ice will melt away every few minutes or so.

Great point about the research. We're definitely planning every stop. I'm glad you had fun! Post up pictures soon!

I had to only change my ice once a day. The cooler definately did its job. I did have to move the jack and the tools in the trunk

Well, call me stupid When I got the car I did check to ensure the spare had never been used, but the stuff wasn't in a styrofoam thingy. Thanks for the heads up.

I have been meaning to ask you.

Did you feel safe parking the porsche at these hotels/motels?

I have been reading horror stories of vandalism, and I was subject to something minor just 2 days ago. I still get tailgated and cut off for some reason. I drive very sanely...

My fiancee and I are rethinking taking this porsche a road trip now.

Funny you should ask that. Yes I was worried at first. The Nugget in reno had a secured/patroled/cameras, parking garage, plus there was a newer boxster 2 rows down from me. NO concern. The first super 8 was in wyoming and I parked it right outsied my window. Some idiot in a "sanford and son" truck parked right next to me ( no door dings). The last super 8 motel was in the middle of BFE (bum F$$$ed egypt) Iowa, and i was so frickin sick I didn't even Think about it. I did ask the front desk girl if it was safe, she smiled and said, in her raspy voice " I go out side about every 15 minutes to have a smoke, I will keep an eye on it". Good enough for me.

The one I should have been the most scared of, was me. 4 days after I got home, I backed the darn thing into my SUV. See my thread on "help I need a new bumper". Luckily found an artic silver bumper on ebay in great shape for $150.00 . God did I get lucky. Actually it hopefully it will be shipped by friday.

I bought mine two months ago while on a trip to Utah. Picked up a 2000 S with 32k from the Porsche dealer in Salt Lake City. Next day, my wife and I threw away our return flight tickets, bought an Escort 9500ix, and started on our trip back to the east coast.

I put on 2000 miles over three days. I've driven cross country several times in various cars and this is one of the most fun and comfortable cars to do this in. No problems at all and fairly comfortable, except near Chicago where the roads were terrible. My wife was enamored by the car too, not a single complaint about the ride nor seats.

As for parking in motels, I always managed to have a room with a good view of the car so I kept a good eye on it. No problems with vandalism, and the only tailgater worth mentioning was a Canadian guy driving a Porsche Cayenne. Passed several Boxsters who all waved as I passed them.
