What color is your Boxster -- Poll --
Ok,
Now that we are determining which vehicle is out there. Lets see what the choice of color is :) This poll should be interesting since dealers are always telling us which is more popular :D |
I'm sorry, but this is seriously lame... I quit visiting Porsche Pete's because of this kind of idle chatter...
If someone is worried about the ride if they switch to 18" wheels, they ought to buy a Mustang... It's like some posting on the AOPA web site: what color is your PA28R-200? Who cares... Is it airworthy? That, I care about... Does my S drive nicely with 18" wheels and S02's (and progessive springs)? Yes. Does it ride nicely? Who gives a rats a**... You're worried about that, buy a BMW. Or even better a Benz. |
Ok,
Now is your chance to contribute some posts which you think are worthy. I welcome them. They can only make the site better since it has only been up for a weekor so. Some of the reasons for a few of these posts are to generate traffic and show the features of the web. For instance, The polls are a feature that some other sites don't allow regular users to create. At least here you can create a poll as a user to gather your most desirable statistics. In this case, I was really curious about my sales persons pitch on selling me a car. I wanted a silver one and his dealer didn't have one. He then went on to say that silver was the most popular color and it was getting old. Therfore, they stopped ordering them in that color. The Poll here will actually let me know if what he said has any substance to it as long as the people voting are casting legite votes. None the less, welcom aboard and please feel free to contribute what you think are topics worth posting. JT |

Well this poll on the color may be nothing to get excited about, but nevertheless, I do find it interesting to see Jorge making an effort to get something going here.
So, if you find it lame, why not contribute something that YOU find worthwhile? Hopefully you will and it will be something interesting to discuss and talk about. Oh yeah, mine is AS, in case you haven't guessed. |
Color
What are we "Rainforest Green Metalics" supposed to do?
|
Ok, JFP.
Go cast your vote :) |
Rainforest Green
I have not seen too many Boxsters in green ( or Rainforest Green for that matter), but I am certain it is a lovely color! I think I have seen maybe one green Boxster so far around here, not sure if that was the same color you have. Is there more than one 'green' available for the Boxster?
I just think silver when I think Porsche for some reason. Maybe it's the James Dean 550 Spyder that sticks in my mind or something? I don't know that much about Porsche history yet (have to get the great sounding book I saw about Porsche and Boxsters), but didn't Porsche usually have their race cars in silver? Whatever color Boxster someone has doesn't matter, the important thing is that it is a Boxster! |
Seal Gray w/black top & interior.

 That didn't work. I tried to paste a picture. I'll try to figure it out later.

99 Guards Red on Sienna Beige. And on a different note, kudos to you for handling 986 s 's comments very professionally. Best, le jolie rogue |
why post?
If you don't post, don't ******************** about what those who do choose to discuss. This is break time from the endless chores and files on my desk. Boxster = mental health. Enjoy, hell if guys can't talk about cars, women, football, etc. what the hell would we do on the internet?
|
I have a discontinued color, which I guess didn't rate on the voting chart or it was also discontinued on the voting :(
Zenith Blue here :D |
Hi there,
I actually ordered mine in midnight blue, but then switched to seal grey with blue top. In germany most boxsters are silver, nearly all others are black. Interieur mostly all black... This is kinda sad, I think in the staates ppl give more on colors. I personly like orange red, i think it's called guards red for U alot. also withe looks very nice on the boxster. Regards, Frank |

This is my 1998 3X black Boxster. 20000 miles, new motor at 19000 miles, thank you PCNA no charge. It is a base Boxster, I have added the clear tailites, clear headlites with the amber center removed. Both have had the Silvervision bulbs added, made by me. I have also added black side markers, black third brakelite. One of the better changesd was to a silver hood badge, much better looking than the gold one.

Craig,
Your car looks awesome. Tell us more about the "black" side markers. I am not familiar with them. |

Thank you. I purchased a set of the clear side markers, installed them and had a pair of amber side markers left over.
I was looking at a website for BMWs and they sold side marker covers, to make them bumper color. BINGO, thats a light bulb going on. I sanded the amber markers and painted them black to match the car.Remove the bulbs and they won't lite up. They could be painted any color. CCLinLOO |
thanks Craig,
I have seen a similar Bimmer thread, but never made the "click." I have clears with with Lapis Blue car.... (and clear/red tails and Litronics -- i.e., no amber-plastics). |
boxstr - new motor at 19,000 ???
Boxstr
What happened to your old motor at (or before) 19000... ?? Seems like there is a disproportionate number of Oregonians on this forum ... wonder why ... the Sports Car Market phenomenon ... maybe we're just more communicative ?? Evander13 S. Oregon 2000 S |
The motor had the early problem that other Boxster motors suffered from, poor casting or maching . The cylinder would slip and allow the piston to hit one or all of the valves and no compression.
Sunset Porsche at first said no way, then the factory rep called and said bring your car in , new motor, thank you thank you. Still trying to get past the breakin , washing the car this am and taking it out for an "air dry" later. CCLINLOO |
Sunset Porsche
Thanks for the response Craig, interesting. I assume Sunset is the Porsche dealer in Portland, are they any good? We don't have a Porsche dealer in Medford, the nearest one is in Bend. Have you heard anything about the Bend guys? There may be one on Redding, but I haven't checked yet.
|
Go to Bend,Carrera Motors, much better customer relations as well as sales dept.. MHO only
CCLINLOO |
I resent that the far superior midnight blue is lumped in with all the pedestrian blues. Harumph. :D :D
|
"Pedestrain blues????" Pardon gentlemen. Blues are awesome, perhaps holding the best shine (I know, blacks are "shinners" too). I can see reflections in the paint matching a mirror in my Lapis Blue car.
|
Is there a bad color?
Mine's black...

This is a good topic as I am in the market for a used boxster.
I am trying to make up my mind on a color between AS and Black. So hard to decide. I see that the AS and black are neck and neck. I have always liked black on cars as they look great when they are clean. Since the Boxster is a small car, I dont think that cleaning is a problem. AS looks great on a Boxster, it seems to make the car look so original. Like it was meant to be silver. Do you remember the boxster commercial? you know the one I am talking about right? Maybe I will wait to see the result of this Poll to see what is the best color. |
yeah it makes sense that AS and black are the most popular colors. I was trying to make the same decision you are trying to make a few years ago. Ultimatly I decided to go with AS, let me explain. In the long run dirt and scratches show up more on solid colors like black. With AS the car can get dirty, a little scratched and noone can barely tell. Unlike black when it gets dirty it tends to stand out a little more, in my opinion.
|
Reasonable logic. My car's color is dark; lapis Blue, which shines beyond ones imagination. So I guess the trade-off is intense, mirror-like shine vs. low maintenance, etc.
In either case, you will not go wrong with any P-car color. Thank G_D, we have more choice then the Henry Ford approach ("You can have any color, as long as it is black"). |
Yeah, "986s". Post something worthy then. This is not riveting by any means, but I think it's decent. Basically because I read somewhere that 60% of Boxsters sold are silver (and I doubted that). Certainly not a scientific poll, but worth the quick glance.
Poll on everyone... |
1st car : 98 Silver on black interior (favorite color for the car) when I was in San Diego's moderate climate
2nd Car: 00s White on beige interior in Houston where it is March-October @ 95+ freaking degrees out. Gosh darn it...The damn pool is 75 at the end of February. It's crazy. Poll on... |
Would have liked to see more color choices in the poll. There are at least 4 reds out there and I searched a long time to find my arena red car. I specifically did not want a bright guards red car.
|
I recammend the classic porsche color guards red. It caught my eye right off the bat. It may be alittle bit of a cliche' sports car color, but thats only because it is the best!
|
my boxster will be burgundy. I guess this is discontinued color as well
|
2001 Black metallic/grey,7245 miles
|
Glacier White....what else????
|
Arctic Silver / Boxster Red.
Classic. |
Silver seems to be Prosche's traditionalist color, doesn't do 2 much for me, I dont own a 986 as of yet, but Basalt Black, and Cobalt blue are my favorite's.
|
Mine is Basalt Black Metallic. I love it. I was originally planning on the Seal Grey Metallic, but they had a BBM in the show room and I said "wow, that’s what I want."
|
Ahhhhhh Basalt Black - perfect color Q, do you have any pic's of her posted?
