Sports Exhaust System

Hi all I'm new here. I intend buying a new Boxster with the new 2.9 engine. I note one of the options is the Sports Exhaust System. Can anyone say whether this is a significant'sound' improvement. Any other improvement?

It's about a $2K option, sound is great. Muffler still weighs a ton though.

PSE is sweeeeeeet.

Definitely noticible and money well spent. I've hacked mine to stay on all the time.

I have it on my Cayman S and love it. I have gotten into the happen of turning it on everytime I start the car. The couple times I have forgotten to turn it on the car just dosnt feel right to me. Definitely a must have.

Thanks for your positive comments. I therefore take it that you can switch it on/off at will. Sorry for such basic questions.

PSE is great!

Yes, it can be turned on and off.

No drone. Most aftermarket exhausts have this issue.

I heard that the on/off feature was somthing that came in later model years. I have PSE on my 2000 S and there is no switch to turn it on or off but, as already mentioned, there is a hack to make it be on all the time.

Mine works by an automatic vacuum control that opens valves to make the exhaust straight through after ~3500rpm. Its a real symhpony when open and quiet as a church mouse under light throttle at highway speeds - no drone. Best of all worlds.
