Roof wont close

My buddy tried to close the roof without pulling the hand brake several times off course without success .
now there is no dash indicator light for hand brake even if i pull it to the maximum and as a result roof cant be closed any ideas what might have gone wrong and is there a way to close it manually i don't have owners manual

There is a small plunger switch under the handbrake which turns the brake light on and off, as well as enabling the top to function. It can get dirty and stick. A little cleaning and some graphite should get it working again.

make sure the little red clip has benn removed also!
