On the pre-2003 cars with the chain tensioner system it is actuated at 1300 rpm and off at 5920. When the engine is cold the on point switches to 1480 rpm.

On the later cars that use the vane type adjuster it is not on all or none system and is controlled by the PWM of a solenoid and is a function of rpm, and load.
