A question for Jake

Jake,

At appoximately what RPM does the VarioCam engage and disengage on a 3.2?

Thanks,

Rick

You may be better off signing in on the Flat 6 website and asking Jake directly.

I'm pretty sure it's at 4,500 rpm.

On the pre-2003 cars with the chain tensioner system it is actuated at 1300 rpm and off at 5920. When the engine is cold the on point switches to 1480 rpm.

On the later cars that use the vane type adjuster it is not on all or none system and is controlled by the PWM of a solenoid and is a function of rpm, and load.

Thanks for the information. I now have a better idea regarding how the system adjusts itself.

is there any confusion as to whether we are talking variocam or varioram?
