The color is "flat black" - but it is definitely more of a very dark gray, which complements the seal gray nicely IMO.

I paid just $25 for the media blasting and coating from San Diego Powdercoating.

Incidentally, I did some informal testing to see if the tips get too hot for powdercoat (400+ degrees) and require ceramic - I drove for 20 minutes and then got out and touched the exhaust tip. Hot, but no blisters, so I went with powdercoat.

My powder coating guy did not recommend high heat. Of course that was for gas burners on wife's cooktop.
