Cleaning Tiptronic Shift Selector Switch
I have a 98 base Boxster w/Tip. and am having some trouble with the car starting and the wrong light coming up on the dash( does not correspond to the gear selected). I was told that the shift selector switch was probably dirty. Is there anyone out there who might know how to clean it? I will be under the cat this week getting it ready for a very busy spring and summer. Thanks in advance. Ed

Once you locate the switch and remove it, you'l find all sorts of 'gunk' has attached to it - oil, grease, mud, etc.
Just clean it off with a nylon parts cleaning brush and solvent. Reinstall and it s/b OK. |
Thanks, Ed

Sorry to revive such a really old thread, but HOW do you get the shift selector switch out? What all needs to be taken off the car to get to it while we're at it? It appears according to the manual, just the under car bracing and driver's side transmission mount. Anything else I need to know? Tips/tricks?

Ok...I got the switch off and left with the rod that goes into the transmission. Is this the part I clean? Do I take this rod part off also...How?
