Valentine One Mount Location
I just purchased V1 w/ the concealed head unit. I was wondering where and how members of this forum have mounted there's. I know there isn't to many places in the Boxster but I would like to hear others stories for best reception and also not getting in the way. East removal is a must of course when parking with the top down, for me, not someone else.

I have one on my 2000S and have yet to locate it. I found the receiver unit just inside the front bumper intake as my Boxster has 3 radiators. My display is in the rear view mirror. The switch is on the left side of the dash below the air vent. I have not found the main unit, but I am thinking it is some where in the bumper. Find out soon when I remove it to have it repainted. This unit was installed a the Porsche Dealer in New York, I am the second owner.

I have mine suction cupped to windshield just to right of mirror on passenger side. Ran power cord from the fuse box up a-pillar and across header (behind the trim of course). Due to rake of the windshield, it's pretty well tucked under header and suction cups are in the tint zone. If I don't take down when parked w/ top down, I fold down passenger side visor which pretty well covers it. My concealed display is velcro'd to dash hidden behind my state insp & emissions stickers (driver's side corner of windshield. Not the most "hidden" but pretty inconspicuous... all depends on interior colors too though. Top up, can't see either... top down, concealed display can be visible but certainly doesn't jump out at you. It's nicely in line of sight while driving yet inconspicuous too other motorists, etc.
Others have taken the concealed display and hidden it in the rear view mirror or 'batwing'.

^ Like Burg Boxster pointed out I believe there is a DIY thread on Rennlist or RennTech that shows how to wire the V1 to your dome light so that you won't need the cigarette light adaptor for power.
Very handy. Turn on the car, V1 has power. I think, not sure, that you have to snap off the cover to the A pillar to hide the phone cord wire from the V1 to the remote box if you have one? That remote box is a must have and keeps the flashing light from getting the attention of the Polize hanging out on the side of the road with his lazer gun.
As far as position, you basically suction cup the V1 right above the rearview, a tight fit but it works.

Have any of you been pulled over with the V working? If so how did that go over? One would think the officer is going to conclude that you speed all the time and write a few.

I have mine hardwired and mounted just above and to the left of the RVM. I suggest checking out radardetectorforum.org it's a great Radar/Lidar site that I'm active on. They can help with any V1 mounting questions.

Not with a V, but with my beltronics I have been pulled over, usually laser since the Beltronics 965 is piss-poor with laser IMHO. Did get pulled over on Ka when V965 was muted and I wasn't paying attention
Anyway, no issues from cops, no extra ticket(s), actually they seemed kind of proud of themselves for catching someone with a radar detector

a state trooper who was driving around the local roads followed me as I went onto the state Parkway. My top was down and he was tail gating. And kept following.
I'd already muted the device the minute I saw him following me. This went on for about five minutes. He gets on his speaker and says "Porsche guy, radar detectors make you look guilty." and sped away.
I guess they hate it when we know that they're watching us.
I think you have to be nuts to be driving a flashy car without a radar detector.
You don't have to be going fast to get a speeding ticket and have to waste a day going to court to fight a ticket that gets settled down to no seat-belt 9 times out 10. All it takes is going five miles over the limit and they got an excuse to TRY to mess up your clean record. Strnage thing is that since going through high perfomance driving instruction and doing a few season of autocross my desire to ever go more than 10 miles over the limit vanished. I realized there are too many poor drivers on the road to justify not giving myself at least two car lengths and even if I clear road ahead some jerkoff can just as easily try and jump in front of me on the fast lane. The roads have be pretty close to empty for me to go fast.

Amazing, it only takes three years for people to post a comment on my thread.
I ended up using the visor clip for the unit and the concealed head is pinched between the steering column and instrument cluster. As far as getting any tickets...got one. I was traveling through OKC with clear five lanes wide ahead of me. The road was going into huge interchange with a left then followed by a big right hand sweeper. Music was cranked, foot was heavy and the V1 was muted with the sun behind me. As I entered the left turn from the left lane I saw a motorcycle cop next to the inside wall...gun in hand and pointing right at me...a glance at the concealed head unit and all I saw was RED LIGHTS! $165 dollars later I now drive with the volume turn up.
Since then my V1 has NEVER let me down. I trust, whole heartedly, the V1.

Sounds like you needed a laser jammer in that situation. I have laser interceptor front and back and its served me very well

Had an "almost" a couple weeks ago, driving from Ohio to NJ. Transitioned from the Ohio Turnpike to the Pennsylvania (I80), where the speed limit drops as you enter Pennsy. I had just gone through the toll booth and was still accelerating when I rounded this fairly tight (for an interstate) right hand turn and the parked trooper appeared as if by magic. The Valentine SCREAMED at me, but it was too late.
With him starting from a stop, and me moving (maybe 15 over the limit---this, of course, quickly dropping to zero over the limit), I had time to pull the V1 down and tuck it under the seat. Don't know if he saw it or not. Guy followed me (uncomfortably close, of course) for a couple miles, then slowly passed. Gave me the "slow down" signal with his hand as he did so. I waved "OK", smiling deferentially in an attempt to convey a "thanks for the break" message.
It's not an infallible system, but that's the only time I've come close to being stopped with the Valentine at work.

My Valentine is mounted on a clear acrylic bracket that is located between the headrest of the seats. The remote unit is on my steering column.
The bracket is an up-side-down Vee with a 90 degree projection at the bottom of each leg of the Vee that you can shove into the groove in the carpetting below the rear speaker/storage box where the front engine cover is. This holds the Vee bracket in place. On top of the point part of the Vee is a 90 degree projection where the Valentine sits on. I use a velcro strip to hold it in place.

My Rear view Mirror has the arrows and warning lights for the V-One radar right in the glass mirror. The button to turn it on is under the driver door side A/C Vent by the head light switch.
The actual radar itself on my car is located under my front license plate with the wires going through the screw holes for the front bumper.
I bought it like that.

If the unit is in the front bumper how does it pick up signals from the rear? Also, the front bumper is pretty low, mine is clipped to the drivers visor next to the rear view mirror with a clear shot forward and aft.

idk, but I know it works. It is possible there is a 2nd radar somewhere in the back that I never noticed.
I know my radar is pretty accurate. In D.C., there are police every where and it points them out every time without fail. It tells me if they are to my right, left, ahead of me, or behind me. It tells me the distance and the type of radar it is reading.

Distance? With a V1? Are you sure you aren't talking about the "bogey counter" which is the number of radar sources?

Yup. That is what it said in the manual I had for it.
There is a vertical bar and a horizontal bar. One tells the distance and one tells the radar sources.
