Hello,

I have been lurking here for a while reading all of the posts and catching up on a lot of issues. I am currently researching used Boxsters and have a few questions I am hoping everyone can help me with. I have read Mie Fockes buying a used Boxster, as well as a few others.

The delima I have is that I cannot find a used Boxster within 150 miles of my location. There is a local (25 miles) private shop that performs maintenance and work that was highly recommended by the Ozark PCA, so I am not concerned with maintenance issues.

I am wondering if anyone has run into problems with ground clearance and accessing their driveways. I have a curbed subdivision and my driveway has a pretty good rise to it once I clear the curb.

I have seen the portable driveway bridges and what not, but will not have an opportunity to test this out before making my purchase. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

If you have similar issue pictures of your driveway approach would be appreciated.

Go slow and go in at a 45 degree angle as supposed to straight on.

And make sure the owner still have the factory springs and not lowered springs on the car.

Thanks. I was thiinking the 45 degree angle would work but figured I'd ask the experts.

Good point about making sure the car has not been lowered. I will make sure to ask that question first.

If I were you I'd call the local PCA and ask if one of their members could run over to your house so you could address the clearance concerns. I'm sure they'd be willing to accommodate knowing that your a potential new member. I know I would do if asked by someone locally. Maybe someone from that chapter will read this and help you out.

By the size of that driveway to could put a couple of Porsche's up there. I think it would really set off your houses facade

My driveway is ridiculously steep, but I don't scrape by boxster provided that I approach at an angle as folks have already recommended. depending on how obssesive you are, you might take a look at these (or something similar):

My box is lowered at least one inch and I'd have no problem approaching your driveway at an angle and moving sloooooowly. Now getting out of your driveway onto the road would be a little harder, but I bet I could do that too at a crawl and at an acute angle.

What about this concerns you? Even if you could find a local Boxster, you may not want it. I refused to restrict the selection of my car by limiting my choice to local vehicles. I live in FL and I bought a Boxster from Pennsylvania. I'll try to answer any questions you have if you decide to buy long-distance.

I too have a curbed driveway and don't have any problems when enter / leaving at an angle.

As far as finding a Boxster goes, I would suggest talking to Davis Speight at Boardwalk Porsche in Plano, TX. He's an honest, no BS person and a pleasure to do business with. I bought my first Box from him (an 01 lapis blue S) - we had a deal done in 3 phone calls and that included calculating my trade-in. He's in the top 1% of best car salesmen I've ever met. If he doesn't have what you're looking for, he can keep an eye out for you as their inventory (used to?) change frequently. His contact info is:

Thanks and I agree. The issue is if I could find one local I could test drive it home and work out the driveway issue. Right now it seems like my purchase will be from out of state.
