I tried several mufflers and they all had that annoying resonance. One I found that gives a higher-flow rate without the resonance is the Dansk sport muffler. It looks like our OEM mufflers, but with different internals and higher flow rate, at least that is what the folks at Dansk said.

I did a before and after dyno with the stock muffler and the Dansk, it was really too close to call. The dyno said I picked up 2-3 hp, which, although probably within the range of error of the Dynojet dyno, speaks to a little better flow rate with the Dansk.

Is this what you were referring to? The 2nd, 3rd and 5th items on the page?http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt63_398_-cma81-cmo82-ct289/Porsche/Boxster/Boxster-986-3-2L-1999-02/Exhausts/Silencers---Mufflers/

It was the second or third item on the page, not the super sound tips version, which, as I understand it also has a higher flow rate. Of the two dansk mufflers with dual tips, one has standard flow rates, the other has a higher flow rate, but I forget which one is which. At the time I got mine, I contacted the US distributer of Dansk mufflers who was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting the correct muffler for my application.

I have the Fister modification which is essentially the Pedro mod. Sounds great, with no drone. I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend this mod. The cost is minimal compared to a new muffler. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/1056416416.html
The 911 version is pictured. The Boxster version is similar to the others pictured in previous posts. Daren was a pleasure to deal with.

Right pipe for pedro mod?

The guy down at my local muffler shop hasn’t had any luck finding some pipe that he thinks will work for the Pedro mod. He was trying to track down something with a 1” diameter and light enough that it won’t pull away.

For those that have done that mod, what type of pipe did you use? This mod is being done to an ’03 so the pipe has to go up and around. There doesn’t look like there is much room up there for something much larger than 1”.

Please let me know what kind of pipe I can tell my muffler man to use and if possible, where he can find it.

My Oettle modded muffler goes up and around as you've described. I believe my bypass pipes are 1.25 OD and clear the rear with my diffusers, without issue.

Pics aren't the greatest, but you get the idea.

Mine was done with stainless steel tubing. Find someone who can fabricate with stainless steel and they should be able to help. Stainless will not rust and looks great.

The cat I am talking to doesn't have a die to bend stainless that small. We were hopeing to get some pipe and some 90's to weld together. I am not worried about a smooth gas flow.

Just Google SS tubing, their are many sources of straight, 90', and 45' elbows. Off the top of my head Burns stainless.
