98 boxster vs 944s2 on the track

Me and my friend got in a friendly argument this morning now he has me wondering ,what would handel better lets say on the track ,a 1990 944 s2 or my 1998 boxster if they were both stock ,he claims the 90 s2 would out handel and blow away the box in handeling ,I think the box would win?I used to own a 1987 944 and a 1990 s2 convertible they were nice cars but I like the boxster way better .He clams the 944 was the best handeling porsche made ?

The S2 are great track cars. They are well balanced and unlike the turbo it has no lag. Both cars are almost equal on paper. 208 vs 201 hp. Torque favors the S2 and weight is almost identical. I say drivers race.

I have driven both. I think it would be a good race. It is easier to hang the tail out in the 944 so it might be a little quicker in tight transitions. The Boxster is pretty amazing in big sweepers and braking zones. A good race.

Forum member SBD used to run a well prepared 968. I think he is a lot faster in a 2001 base Boxster.

Both are excellent track candidates, and as mentioned, fairly equal. From my experience, I'd give the Box the edge.

Great cars to learn how to drive in; enough power to have fun, but you must learn to carry momentum in the turns if you ever want to go fast.
