Expensive Chip

I was surfing the web and found that the folks at AutoThority Pitstop have opened a new location outside Wash DC. The folks at AP did most of the tuning of my 2000 Base Boxster including intake, exhaust, lightweight flywheel and ECU chip. They were very professional and did a great job on the car.

They especially spent a lot of time (almost a year) optimizing the chip and exhaust for my 2.7L. I was suprised to see that their chip for the 2000-2002 Boxster now costs 1,995.00!!!!, I think it was 1.2K back when I got it. All I can think is that price must relfect reflect the development work that went into it, still thats a lot of money for an ECU mod, even one that works well. AutoThority Pitstop

I have done several dyno pulls at another shop (AP did not have their dyno running when I had my work done with them). Now that their tuning dyno is up and running, I am thinking of having my ECU further dyno tuned by them. My car certianally does not need further tuning, but I like to playing with it and seeing what the 2.7L can do with just bolt-ons and a chip.

I like messing around with the car, but still I am a little reluctant because the car is running so well these days. On a good day I am putting 210 hp to the wheels, which is not bad for a car rated at 217 at the crank. I will talk to them and then decide if I will give it a try,

Ed
