I have one and it does not do that for me, however, I do have Evo aluminum shift link on top of my B&M short shift. I used to have grinding problem when going into 2nd gear if the car is cold and now, the 2nd gear does not grind at all even when temperature at -30F. I'm very happy with the shifter/shift link combo. Adjusting shift link to cable is crucial.
