That's nice but it's a little steep for something with 100,000 miles on the clock already. You could probably get a real 996 at that price with less miles if you looked, and a nice one too.

$45k for an old Boxster? Pass.
That's definitely 996 territory -a nice C4S would do better for me.

Ha. I'd save $15-30k more and buy a 360 Modena. Look around they are starting to get dirt cheap now.

I saw this car getting prepped two weeks ago and Hans said the conversion was done at ~70k miles with a crate motor. I have to agree about price given the vehicle age and decline in car values; however, if anyone IS interested I will be happy to drop by RUF and check it out. Having an X51 under the hood would be a real thrill.

RUF-Dallas sometimes has Ferraris and Lambos in for service along with the usual Porsche and RUF branded cars. The sales department has many different makes come through the door and an adjacent storage building is practically a sports car museum where customers store weekend and track cars.

I know the RUF name pulls a lot of weight, and rightly so, but at this price, that one is going to be for sale for quite a while. There are 5 or 6 996TTs on ebay right now with fewer miles and much lower BIN prices.
Maybe this is a customer's consignment price, and he doesn't really want to sell.

that is a very nice looking car.

how much HP does something like this have??? if you want the power of a 911 but really really want the look/drop top/balance of a boxster - this is the car to get.

i'm going to guess there's NO warranty on that bad boy! if THAT motor went boom - it must be serious coin to replace.

Here is a link to RUF's conversions for the Boxster:
http://www.rufautocentre.com/conversions/Boxster.asp
That specific conversion has about 355 HP at the crank, so I don't think it could dyno at 373. Maybe 300 with a 15% powertrain loss figured in.

These conversions run well north of $25K by RUF.

Right, sorry for not being complete. The engine from intake to exhaust is $25K. The entire package is about $40k including suspension and body, give or take.

At PCA palooza this year RUF was of course there like every year. They were talking about a supercharged conversion that puts 440hp at the wheels. Wow, would that be fun!

The car above, that's a lot of money for a conversion. If it was a RUF factory built car, I could see that sort of change being dropped but, at the end of the day that's just a converted Porsche.

Wow, given all that was spent on that car it's amazing to me that they still didn't deamber the headlights or taillights - just the side markers... silly Rufians.

At $25K this car would be a steal.

At $35K this car would maybe be a fair deal.

At $45K this car is simply a stretch... too much coin for such a high mileage car

The owner of this car was asking quite a bit more for it a couple of years ago when the conversion was done. He's now moved on to a GT3 and I'm sure is anxious to unload it. Never was quite sure why he put it up for sale so soon after the conversion. RUF usually asks premium prices for the cars they have for sale. The folks there are super nice and will let you crawl all over the cars for sale and will take you for some spiritied test drives.
