Question CDR-220 and MP3?

Will the CDR-220 play a CD burned with MP3s on it? Will it play burned CDs? Anyone know what format they need to be in?

Thx,
G

I'm quite certain my son has played numerous home burned cds in my Box S. I never use the thing, but when he's in the car, he has to have music going; I'm driving, of course. These would include MP3s previously residing on his laptop.

Seems like the only players that have trouble with burned cds are some of the older generation players.

Is there a trick to it? I just burned a cd-r with mp3s using itunes and it wouldnt play....
The 220 showed it playing...i.e. the time was ticking down or up one....but no sound and I couldnt get it off of the first track.
Any ideas?

I've played CD's burned with iTunes on my CDR220. There isn't any trick to it, but sometimes my computer won't burn properly. Try playing it somewhere else to see if it's the disc or the radio.

I'm not an expert in burning music CDs, but I seem to recall an option of either burning a "music CD" or burning the mp3s. You can burn a music CD from mp3s, but I think it changes their format and you get far fewer tunes on a music CD than you can with one loaded with mp3s. I did burn some CDs for my CDR-220 but it was about a year ago and I *think* I used the Music format...

Hazy memory, but there may be something there that will help.

The CDR 220 is not an MP3 player and so will NOT play MP3 files directly - it lacks the ability to convert MP3 files into an audio signal.

You can hook an MP3 player up to it using several methods/hardware, but it is the MP3 player (Ipod, Zune, etc.), not the radio, which does the file conversion and sends the audio signal to the amplifier/hu/speakers.

The CDR 220 will play CDs burned in the 'music' format, but as mentioned, these are less 'compressed' and so fewer tracks can be burned on a single CD.
