With all this talk of "cat bypass pipes" I visited the www.fabspeed.com web site. $495 for a pair of pipes? Wouldn't it be more cost effective to have a local muffler shop fabricate a pair for my car? Any draw backs?

Garage
Chris,

One time good deal or do they have more? Was it from an individual or company?

It was from Suncoast. http://stores.ebay.com/****************************************************
I think it was an individual deal to get rid of some stuff on their shelves...

I'm also interested in this answer. I have an 03 Boxster S with Fabspeed exhaust. Can I just go to a local muffler shop and have them fabricate a 2" pipe from the primary cat to the exhaust for cheaper?

It is highly unlikely that a muffler shop will fab you those pipes, ask me how I know. Due to Federal laws, they can get a hefty fine for doing so, eliminating any emission controlled part.

Check these out: http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-parts-sale-wanted/33153-f-s-che-boxster-test-pipes.html

And since you are in Cal, you "may" not pass a visual inspection. YMMV
