Time for a new top!

Well it's getting time to replace my top due to the plastic back window going bad. As I was researching my options I came across this info on the Autotopsdirect website:
"WINDOW: Includes a new green tinted plastic window. The original rear window is zippered utilizing a patented Porsche system. All aftermarket tops that we know of, including this one, is non-zippered."

Mine is not zippered, so does that mean mine is not original or is this statement incorrect?
Though it doesn't really matter, it's just a curiosity on my part.

I don't think there ever was a zippered window for any of the boxsters, but I could be wrong? I had my window replaced in California for $500 since the top was in excellent shape. Its a hell of a job to remove the canvas etc. So not for the backyard mechanic like myself.

Agree. No zippered factory tops on Boxsters that I have ever seen.

They are confusing it with the original Miata.

Thanks, this didn't sound right at all.

Zipping it out and replacing it would be easy! But, Porsche wouldn't do something that simple and under-engineered would they!

You can pick up a brand new top on ebay for less than $500.
