986 Headlight Trim

Is there a part no. for the rubber headlights trim that is between the fender and headlight itself?

Good question because mine is a bit banged up from my detailing with the Porter Cable. Thinking of calling the dealer tomorrow and bugging the parts dept with finding it.

Hmm, from looking at an exploded parts diagram I don't see an actual gasket. It might be part of the following brackets:

99650553900 left side

99650554000 right side

only $15 bucks/side from Pelican Parts

Sorry I do not have a part # and this doesn't help the one(s) you already have damaged but.....

When detailing, especially when using the PC or my rotary, I always just pop out the headlight pods and store them in the front trunk. This keeps wax/polish residue off the trim and makes it a snap to spritz them up w/ a little Mothers Back to Black before reinstalling. On the 9x6s they're easy enough to pull out w/ a 5mm nutdriver or the tool in the tool kit. I also usually remove the hood crest (w/ an 8mm nut driver as sockets tend to be a little to fat to get into the recessed holes).

Good luck

F.Y.I. there is a part no. if you remove the screws holding the gasket on the headlights..........it can't be ordered seperate from the headlight.

I needed to order some because the headlights gasket were fitted to the past car's fender they were on, leaving me with a small gap on mine. I fixed this by removing the gasket, getting a very very thin cloth towel, cutting it to fit between the headlight and the gasket and now they sealed everything up. The towel pushed out the gasket enough to close the gap between the headlight gasket and the fender. It may sound confusing but you will see what I'm talking about after you remove the gasket.
