Need Help!

Hi Everyone,

So I recently did the Double Din Navi install on my car using a Pioneer Avic-F90BT and Tri's Double Din Install Kit. Everything workout out flawlessly except…..

I need help relocating the stupid climate control unit! I can't get it to fit the Upper OR Lower pocket of the center console. It just wont fit! I did a bunch of searches on the forums and everyone says it will just slide right into the lowest pocket but mine just won’t budge. What am I doing wrong here?

Ultimately I want it in the top most slot but I don't want to hack up my console too much.

Can someone PLEASE give me instructions on how to get it to fit in EITHER of the two slots?

Thanks,
James

Hey James, To place your Climate Controls into the lower compartments, You need to place it into the lowest compartment. It should just screw right in, You'll need to buy a new frame. You will have a fun time getting the wires for the climate controls down to the lower console cubby section but since your hands are skinny it shouldnt be too hard, I did it and my hands are like polar bear paws.

James,

Did you see Step 2 of Tri's instructions :

http://986forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=8503

Did you grind off the corners of the faceplate ?

Nick

CJ,
I already routed the cables with no problems at all.....Took like 5 mins. My Climate control unit WILL NOT slide in thats the problem. It sticks out about 2inches. I have the bezel and everything. I just cant get the darn thing in.

Nick,
Tri's instructions are great but he doesnt say how he got the climate unit slide in. The top cubby seems to be smaller than the bottom one.

AHHHH SOOO frustrating. Who would have thought the hardest part of the Navi install would be the CLIMATE CONTROL!

Thats weird that it wont slide in, Mine just fell into place.. Do you see anything in there that could be blocking it?

Its the actual console thats not letting it in.

Does anyone know if there are two different lower consoles? Thats all I can think of. Maybe Porsche has two different lower consoles...

TriGem2k,
Did you find solution to your issue? I think you posted picutre of your finished installation. I'm thinking about installing avic unit also and tried to see if climate control fits on lower compartment last nite. Mine won't slide in either as you described. Screw hole seem to match up but it stops about half an inch to go. Any help will be appreciated, I really want this upgrade.

Spark,

I did finish the install. The Climate control DID just fall in with a little bit of pressure. I think I was just so tired the first day I was trying to get it in that I was not really focusing. You will no have no problems at all with locating it to the lowest most compartment. It DOES fit with no mods. Just line it up and apply some pressure.

Let me know how it goes. Feel free to PM me if you need further help.

Cheers,
James

I don't know what happened on first day but climate control does slide in nicely on bottom slot. Now with climate control location issue settled, I just received AVIC-F90BT and waiting for installation kit to show up in next few days. My next question is where did you install the microphone for bluetooth? I thought about installing it on microphone spot but I heard number of people with older bluetooth units saying that it's not a good location for microphone.

I put my mic in the mic spot and dont have any problems with it really. No matter what you do the car is a rag top and it will be hard to get the mic 100%
