New tyre time

I am fed up with my Continental CS2's going bald after 10,000km so I am looking to try something new. These days my car sees very little aggressive driving, I mostly take it out on weekends for a sedate drive to enjoy the sun. I want:

- long lasting
- Z-rated tyre not required. Car rarely exceeds 130km/h
- prefer something quiet
- excellent wet weather grip is a priority.

... any suggestions?

I am really annoyed with my Conti's ... this is my 3rd set with premature baldness on "normal" driving and it's time to get rid of them.

Kumho Ecsta SPT's-- Reasonably priced, good handling wet or dry, and quite. Check Tire Racks tests and you see that they fare well. I'm on my second set of rears ( fronts were good ) and got about 15K miles on the rear with fairly aggressive driving

My Box came with Dunlop 9090s. The right rear was bald at 20k miles/4 yrs, and I just replaced both rears. The fronts show little wear to the naked eye.

I've been satisfied with them in wet and dry, but I don't track the car. Don't drive like a blue haired lady either.

Oddly, the dealer (Leith in Cary, NC) beat Tire Rack prices. But TR is still the place to do research as several folks noted.

Ditto that on the Kumho Ecstas. That's what I have and I like them, I like them alot.

They look good and hold the road well in all types of weather.

If you want them to run cooler and last a little longer have them filled with nitrogen.

It's a NASCAR thing.

On Tire Racks latest test, the new Goodyear F1 Asymetrical beat out all takers and were about 300 per set less than Michelin Pilot Sport 2's.
I had a set of F1 GS D3's on an RX8 and loved them. Stuck great and the most quiet high performance tires I've owned. The Asymetrical is supposed to be even better and more quiet.
I must say, the pilot sport 2's on my 06 feel like Goodyear slicks. They break away in a very even and predictable manner and maintain a constant slip angle.
