If you are lucky, your new Alpine will use the same wiring harness connection as your old one. So you should be able to pop off the bezel, slide the removal keys (that came with your new unit) down the sides and remove the old deck. Disconnect the wiring and plug it right into the new deck (assuming the plugs are the same). Slide the new deck in, install the bezel, and you're done.

As I said, if you are lucky and the plugs are the same, it should only take 15 minutes.

Other than a FM transmitter, has anyone ever figured out how to tap a MP3 player into an old Becker system?

I purchased a cable from Becker that plugged into the aux jack on the rear of my cdr-220 and the headphone jack of my mp3 player. Just choose AUX on the radio and it plays fine.

If you have the cd-changer option in your Boxster you will lose that, but with the increased music capacity of a mp3 player, the loss of the changer isn't a big deal at all.

Thanks, I'm going to scope that out.
