Locking fault/car & windows opening by themselves!

I'm having a real mare with my 2001 boxster 's'. It first started with the car unlocking and both widows fully retracting whilst driving. then the problem occured on initial start-up, but now the fault is occuring even when I'm not with the car! I returned to find it unlocked, with both windows fully down in the middle of a city!! not good. Also the other evening, i sat watchinh the car switch the interior lamps on every 10-15 mins or so. haunting or what!! The car is now off the road so the battery doesn't depleate or i return to find it stolen. Any ideas guys/girls??

The US Alarm system differs significantly from the ROW unit. But, from what you describe, I'd say it's in the Alarm Control Module, or an Ignition switch going bad.

The switch is an easy DIY replacement PN#4A0.905.849.B or generic Meyle (OEM Supplier) PN# 100.905.0000 - this is a direct replacement. Use the Search function here for DIY How-to.

If that doesn't do it, you're probably looking at a trip to the dealer or independent mechanic with a PIWIS or PST2 diagnostic tester to sort it out - no other diagnostic tester will work.
