Pre-purchase questions about a boxster

I looked at a 2000 Boxster yesterday with 58k miles and have a couple of questions:

1 - I noticed that the vent scoops on each side of the car were a bit different - one of them sticks out a little and has a "lip" where the other one does not.. is this normal?

2 - I've looked at several of these boxsters and noticed that pieces of the rear "boxster" badge seems to break off fairly easily.. normal as well?

3 - Are the 2000's a good year? anything i should look out for? I'm thinking of getting this one taken to porsche for an inspection (its being sold by a different car dealer)..

Thanks in advance!

As of 2000 the drivers side vent sticks out a bit more. It is the intake vent. This was done to reduce the chance of water getting sucked in.

The bottom of the B is known to break because it get caught when washing. Easy to replace or some people just leave it off.

2000 is the first year for the 3.2 S and the base 2.5 went to 2.7. I would go for the S if I was in the market.

For $5-6k more you should be able to get one with 20,000 fewer miles if you have a few weeks to look. I recently did this and bought a 2000 (base engine). 2000 is a good year for reliability and it's probably smart to shop 2001 and 2002 to get the price down.

I have been out of the Boxster market for many years so I have not kept up on prices.

Is it a 2.7 or 3.2 and is there any warranty. This info and your location will help others on the price.

T-P: Why would you go for the S over the standard? ....beyond the extra poke.

That is the only reason.

There was no S when I started Boxstering. Only the 2.5.
