Some older pictures of my garage remodel, before it was finished. Now, it's such a mess, I wouldn't dare take pictures of it.
This picture was taken before the countertops went on. The best thing to see here is the flexible track lighting, which is cheap, attractive and directional. You can use it to light your art, or a project you're working on. I used all cabinets with doors, so that when everything is put away there is no clutter. The floors are plastic tile. So far they've been great. They're two years old and have very little damage, but the white is a ******************** to keep clean. You can see the stereo speakers mounted to the wall under the top cabinets. The receiver is inside one of the cabinets to cut down the clutter on the work surface.
The countertops I used are epoxy, like you see in a laboratory. They're completely chemical and flame resistant. They've been great so far. I damaged this piece of plexiglass with brake fluid, but the counters were not damaged at all. See the cool diamondplate switchplate covers? They're fake. The real ones are about $11.00 each. I bought a giant sheet of diamondplate contact paper off of ebay and covered every plate in my garage for like $50.00. Behind the backsplash, I installed large powerstrips, so I have enough recepticles.
The oven is used for powdercoating. The pink insulation near the floor is to cover the hydrostatic vents in my foundation. Later, I built little white panels to cover them. I'm sure that's a code violation, but big holes in the garage walls let my heat and air-conditioning out...
The hardtop as art... This picture shows a few little things I did to add interest. I covered my utility door with the diamond plate contact paper, added trim and the fallout shelter sign for fun. I also painted the electric service covers and added the radiation decals because I thought it was funny.
I decided to put up a little flat screen, but I put it across the room. I knew if it was over the workbench, I'd watch Speed Channel all day and nothing would get done. I bought one with a built in dvd so I can watch instructional dvds when I'm working on stuff that I don't necessarily understand. It really comes in handy because most of the time, I have no idea how to fix the crap I take apart. I also got some dvds of old car commercials that my friends get a kick out of. The TV is mounted on an articulating mount so it can be seen from anywhere in the garage.
Here (and in the last picture) you can see some trophies and plaques. I wanted to display them, but they can be a pain. I mounted them up high, so they're out of the way. All the way up there, you can hardly tell that they need to be dusted. Oh yeah...the lift is the best thing I ever bought. If you have 11 foot ceilings, I highly recommend one.
I have a lot more to do before I call it finished, but I hope you got some ideas that you can use. Garage projects are my favorite because you can do anything you want in there.
