I agree with JC, you did damage your battery but I don't think you killed it at all. My battery won't hold a charge for a month of inactivity. I don't think it ever could in the 3 years I've had it.

If you really want, You can have it load tested at any big box auto parts store. Just remember a batteries is just like us, dieing from day one. I'm half dead, doesn't mean I won't be effective for another 40 yrs. You may have just knocked a year or less off it's 5 or 6 year life.
