I am very excited for this season! Not only is the ALMS one of the best (IMO) racing series a friend of mine, Gerardo Bonilla has finally realized a goal of his, and will be the second driver of the BP Mazda B-K Motorsports LMP2 car along with Ben Devlin for the entire ALMS 2008 season!

Unfortunately Devlin put the car into the tire wall yesterday during qualifying, but they are certain they can get the car back together in time for tomorrows race.

If the sound didn't blank out every 30 seconds it would be a treat to watch...

If your talking about the flying lizard, what happened to that guy was lousy, especially as he said so early in the contest.

Ditto on the lousy soundtrack. I originally thought my PVR (Tivo) was on the fritz .......

I get the difference between the GT and P (prototype) categories.
What I don't get, is the difference between GT1 & GT 2; P1 & P2.

Anyone have the "LeMans for Dummies" explanation??

Wasn't talking about the Flyin Lizard team car but that did really suck for them, I let out a big "Ahhhh! No!!" when that happened, the wife ran out to see if I was ok . See the third post, my buddy drives an LMP2 car.

Seems they fixed the audio dropping but now it's stuttering like max-headroom

pcar-yvr, head over to the alms web site: http://www.americanlemans.com/home/ALMSHome.aspx there is a "Le Mans 101" section that does a good job of explaining the car classes.

What a race! Loved seeing the orange glow of the brake pads / discs during the night portion of the race. Pretty wild.

That LeMans website has some great learnings - thanks for the call on that one Kabel.

Go Porsche !!

I just returned from the track- been there since Thursday. I am one of the lucky ones who does pit reporting during the race. It was great to see the spyder win. I watched the driver raise his hand as he passed us at the finish line. My 14th year at the track- took hundreds of photos. I will try to post a couple of porsche shots. Audi had some bad vibration issues and turbo problems, not like them.
My bro in law and I were wandering around after the wrap up and photos and actually attended a drunken, rock and roll wedding in the green park just after midnight- you just never know what you'll see at Sebring.
