water leak

i have a 98 boxster which i purchased in september 07..i had it stored for the winter but i decided to take it out the other day...it rained and there was a lot of puddles on the road...the passenger side is soaked...i pulled up the carpet and there was a good inch of water inside...is this a common problem and how do i fix it..

There are small plastic hoses that run from the front/top of the front trunk. The hoses are about the size of a drip system hose and can either disconnect or clog causing the water in your front passenger side... same can happen for the driver side.

The hoses are supposed to allow the water to flow from your windshield to the base of the car. Porsche has diagrams (I think you can find them on line) to show locations... I tore down the carpet on the passenger side of my 05 and found a disconnected hose... fixed same. The hose was just behind the glove box...

Pull out the carpet and begin to drip water down the windshield then look for the leak... good luck.

it has not rained since i discovered the water inside the passenger side behind the seat..i have driven with the heat and defroster off and have been leaving the windows open to help dry it out..the problem is i keep finding water pooling in the same place.i soak it up with towels drive some and there is more water...where could this be coming from?

I assume you've checked and it's fresh water, not coolant.

If so, it's got to be water trapped in the car from rain, washings, etc. This means some of the drains are clogged and allowing water to accumulate.

PM me an email addy and I'll send you a diagram of the drain locations.

Also, until you get this sorted, be sure to isolate the Alarm brain under the driver's seat by placing dry towels all around it. If this thing fries, it's gonna cost mucho.

yes its fresh water... hopefully that is the problem...those diagrams would be very helpful...thank you very much
